John Lyons

 John Lyons
Sax/Vocals

A native of New Orleans Louisiana , was practically born with his sax in hand.  He was hired for his first 'paying' gig when he was only 12 years old, and hasn't stopped sharing his musical talents since.  His sweet and full bodied tenor sound compliments his down and dirty sax playing, his soulful style, and is reminiscent to that of Lenny Picket and Michel Brecker.  John has played with such artists at Percy Sledge, Luther Kent, Vince Vance, The Coasters, The Platters, The Marvelettes, and has shared the stage with such well known acts as Irma Thomas, T. Graham Brown, Doug Kershaw, and the Classic Rock All Stars, just to name a few.  He spent several years as lead tenor with local bands such as Magnolia, LA Overdrive,  and Ernest Scott and Coffee.  One of the highlights of the past few years for John was performing at the Montreal Jazz Festival, in Montreal , Canada in July of 2001, to an audience of over 40,000 fans.  From as far north as Nashville and Memphis, to the deep gulf south, John has shared his love of music and special talent and continues to do so as the newest member of Stormy
